Academic Plan

My academic plan appears to be on the right track. I had to waste a semster do to the fact i had low test scores. I haven't been in school for five years. I know what a waste of time it was . I would have been going to school all that time i would be done. I talked to an advicer and we determined that I am doing good and on parr. I plan on transferring to WSU when I complete my stint here at Butler. I am doing sports administration. with maybe a secondary in psychology, I haven 't made up my mind yet. Its so far so good to and I hope that I don't have any problems. My advicer told me that as long as I keep plugging along I will be ok.

You can even set up an academic plan at this website. Map out what you want and need to do. Here is another web site that shows job availability.
This is another college website for people that are interested in sports administration.

Academic Honesty

You could probably see this either way, honesty or dishonesty. I think everyone has delt with cheating in one way or another. The question you have to ask yourself is what you did when it happened. I am no choir boy and have cheated before. Back in high school i copied papers and looked at others tests. I can say that every paper i wrote, i wrote it. The only thing i learned from all the other stuff is nothing. I had to learn what i cheated on so all i did was create more work for my self. Now there is no way you can get by, by cheating. Plus as you get older lets hope that you develop sometype of feeling between right and wrong. So lets hope that everyone has grown up and can actually do things for themselves. I know i have. I would hate to take any of these classes again cause i was to lazy to do my own work. Once is enough for me. Also i am taking classes that intrest me not ones that are boring and i want nothing to do with. Colleges have more of plagureism a paper or project then copying homework. Things have changed since high school i feel more accountable for my action now then i did. Well i hope that things have changed for the rest of you for the better and good luck in the future and all you do.

Community Service

In most recent years we have experienced some of the world's worst. We saw 9-11 how about Hurricane Katrina , the tsunmi, the torando that leveled Greensboro. Or how about the wild fires in California that killed hundreds and destroyed millions. If it wasn't for the help of community service's of many to make things bareible and able to move on. I have been around community services most of my life, my grandmother was big in the community of viola and when ever someone needed help we were there to offer our services. When I was little it was a crappy thing to go spend your saturday to help someone that you didn't know. Know I see things and life differently. My mom went to new york when 9-11 happened and was part of that massive community clean up. I probably don't do what i should but i have to cut out two hours of sleep two day a week just to get a work out program at the y. When i become a coach i plan on having a community unity for the school and community. The goal is to bring community and school together, on different levels. Sacirfice is the greatest gift you can give someone. If you have never done it i would recomend it. It helps the soul.

Coping with change

My biggest change that has happened in the last year or year and a half would be the death or my mother. It has actually been closer to two years know. Yes it was very difficult, because the year before that I had lost my baby boy. He had died during heart surgery. The only real problems that I have had has been death. In 2004 I lost my son, one year and three months later my mom dies. Then a year and four months later my moms mom dies, then six months later my dads mom dies. So as you can see I have had my share of lost ones, and I am still here. I just keep going cause noone else will do it for me. I really don't let people see it if something is wrong. On a lighter note I really don't have a problem with the jump from high school to college it has actually been a little easier. I have always been one of those people that if something is wrong I fix it. Weather that be lifestyle or work and or even education. I never wanted to settle for second place. I haven't experienced any emotional or physical problems since starting school. Wait I take that back it has given me a little more stress. Thats common and with work and a family. Its hard to make sure that everyone and everythings gets the right amount of time but I seem to be doing okay. Change is good it gets people on there toes and gives people a new prespective on different things that maybe you didn't have before. I try to keep switching things up so I don't get complacive, and try to stay out of that rout feeling. Form where I was five years ago to know is a complete three hundred and sixty degree turn. It is one thing to say you want to change it is another to actually do it. It is unbeliveable to see the transformation that some people and even myself actually go through to get what they want or change. It just as a may be one of the most singlely difficult things to do in someones life , change. I recomend that if you have any thoughts of change don't wait any long do it.

Time Management

There has always been three types of people the doers, don'ts and the procrastenaters. It doesn't matter what type of person you are as long as you get what you need DONE, DONE Right? We all know the benifits of actually being done before hand, but for some reason it never fails that I don't do it till the last minute. I like to think it of it as a way to put more thought into it. I always say work smarter not harder. Doesn't sound like I listen to that either. For some it may not be time management, but more of that you managed to get time. I could do more to manage my time. One thing is do some stuff when i get it, not till the day before nor day of. It feels like I have 10 hours of work but only have 7 hours to do it then go to class. I have taken great steps to manage more of my time and it was to cut out two hours of sleep. No just kidding around I actually developed a system in which it has been working for the most part this semster. I think that it could benifit most people to develope some type of homework mangement system if needed if not do what works for you it seems to be working so far, right? Since this is my blog and its my thoughts i don't think its time we need to manage. You want to know what i think it seems people need help with is MONEY!!! Thats right money. Some things that people spend money on and the price of some things is just outrageous. So maybe we can fit a money class into that time class it would do some good. Lets make it happen people. I am out

Butler Resources / Online databases

The Butler resourses that Butler offers are numberous and they are advancing with every new oppertunity. The pipeline is one of the ways to access these great tools you can use to help write papers, and any other projects dimed fit. There is even a resource libaryian to help with any questions that you may inquire while checking out the stuff you need. One of the things that I have used already numerours times is the citation maker. That thing has help me out trimindously already. The possibilities are endless when using the resources offered on the pipeline. Its not even that hard to use it to look up videos for reports or what you seem to need. We brought up the video called Dying to drink from the wed access libary that can be accessed from your pipleline account. You are even able to access the blogger spot from the student connect under my courses. The possibilities are endless when you get on pipline and even to go to the libary at the Nixon Hall is great. Thats where you can have the butler resource libarian help you. Its got it all, whatever you need for class and everything you don't. So next time you have trouble finding a topic or help writing a paper and any citations you need. Good luck

Learning Profile

1) This class was to help students make the change to college from high school. She shows you how to do certain papers and or projects you might have. It is insightfull because there are so many things that you need and its all right there and she shows you how to use it. We did many activies in class to get that first hand experince that you need to really get it. It took me a while before I got a hang of this blog but all I had to do was ask for help. The one thing that I used from day one when I learned about how to do it was the citation marker or maker which ever one it happens to be. One thing that I could have used a little more would be work on the computer. I know its not a computer class and if I need computer skills then I need to take a computer course. But just get them comfortable and make sure they are comfortable. Also that speed reader thing was pretty cool, it to gets you thinking and putting more effort than you noramlly would, it pushs you to do better. I missed a few classes do to work and Dr. appointment. So I missed a few things and it hurt so I recomend that you sure make it a class to come to.

2) My strengths as a learner would have to be hands on, group, single activies and being vocal. When I see something done or it is explained to me I tend to do a lot better. Being vocal would be good for someone who is not vocal, this is the class to fine tip that skill. Be comfortable to make a mistake in fornt of people. That skill reader was one that sticks out to me. It made me push myself to beat my score from last time. This is all so a skill that it wouldn't hurt to get sharpened and improve on it. Its also the one that I liked the most. I just might have more weakness than strengths when writing stuff down but I feel confident in doing whatever it is. Unless it is this blog this thing has just killed me and made me hate computers all over again.
But the greatest strength I have would be I hate to fail, and will do what it takes to over come it.

3) Like I said before I feel that I have more weaknesses then strengths. My biggest is probably be comprehension. I don't mean I am stupid I mean take this blog for example. In the beging if you were to set me down and say go to this web page and make a blog and thats all you said I would make it as far as the web page and thats it. I know what to do now but I am still computer iliterit. It also goes with anything that may need explain will need to be to me. I hate that about me, I learn quick if I was shown than to be handed and told. There is still more, like homework I do it last min. and hope that it comes out great. Which I know that you have to put time into stuff if you want it to come out good. Back to the whole computer thing and it just gets me discouraged when ever a teacher is like we are going to computer lab and i am like oh sh... .
The only thing that I have going for me when I mess up is I have no shame, its hard to make me bluish. I know my weaknesses and I am going to make changes to get those weaknesses to become strengths and be more of a complete student.

4) Something that i can do now that i couldn't do before, would have to be the computer stuff. We were able to access so much from the web libary, and that stuff to help site things in your paper and even find journal reviews. Basically it was all that pipline things, i just used it for email before now i use it for a varity of homework. I won't never spit in your face and tell you its raining so i am not going to lye. At first i thought this class was a waste of time. I thought it was one of those things you have to so i didn't put much in to it at first. I realized that there was more than meets the eye. I actually learned quit more than i antisipated. It has helped me manage my time by not looking for things and knowing where to go to find them. I would say that one of the most important thing that may benifit me would be that just cause you have to do it doesn't mean that you aren't going to get anything out of it. I always thought of myself open minded but i know now that it more than just that. Why do i feel opening your mind up is something significent because if you have a block up you could miss something that could have benifited you and you would never have got it cause you didn't let go, so to say. Plus it was a bonus to actually learn some things about and how to use somethings on the computer to help with a varity of things from blogs to papers and just general fun. So remember just cause you don't want to do it, do it, it may be benifical and you won't want to miss out.

5) The things that i found to be more useful was the computer stuff with libary database and the citation maker. That reader program i found to be very helpful. It trys to make you a more effencent reader able to comperhend what you read more easly. There was some stuff that you showed us that i thought could have been spent on more intersting things. The dying do drink was good to show us how to get to the video research but i feel that watching that video was not useful. I feel that everyone in college should know the consquences of drinking and what can happen when you are careless and take it to far. It was a tragic story of a young woman cut down in her prime from a few to many beers. I know what those parents went through i to have lost a child, but i could have done something eles on that. Thats about the only thing i see i would change. Spent a little more time on some computer stuff.

7) The one thing that i recoment that you do is be vocal. Speak up and speak your mind. Don't hold anything back. Ask question if you have any. I also would tell them that the teacher is the meanest and strickest i have ever had. You have so many essay to do and the class is only eight weeks so have plenty pen and paper ready.
